Surprise Visit

Auntie Nicole was in MN last weekend for her Carleton College reunion. We didn't expect to be able to see her since she would be in Northfield all weekend. However, since many of her friends had earlier flights, she drove up to the cities to visit us! What a wonderful surprise! Lily hasn't seen her Auntie since Christmas. I was surprised how quickly Lily warmed up to Nicole. It was like she sees her all of the time. Even though it was a only a few hours, we were so thrilled that Nicole made the trip!

Nicole brought Lily this cute little hat from Carleton (it says Carleton College on the other side). Thank you Auntie Nicole!

A couple of days ago I attempted two french braids in Lily's hair. She didn't really enjoy it (as you can see), but boy they sure looked cute!

Side note: I just have to say, I think it's hilarious that when Lily runs, she has her own sound effects. Its sounds like "Whoa..oh..oh..oh". I'll have to try to catch it on video sometime. It's pretty amusing:)

As requested by several people...here is a tummy shot of me at 27 weeks along (I'm 28 weeks today). I've definitely popped out more and am beginning to feel the effects of that. I'm running out of room on my lap for Lily which is really sad since I can't cuddle with her as well before nap and bedtime. The baby continues to be very active, especially when I finally sit down to rest. I've started my third trimester which means we are getting closer to meeting out little girl. However, it also means I'm starting to slow down a lot. Thankfully Dave will be able to run and play with her more since he finishes his residency on Monday!

I love your french braids Lily. I remember trying to put them in your Mom's hair when she was little. Auntie Nicole always did the best french braids and helped me with your Mom's until she got old enough to do her own.

These photos are all reasons I promise I'm moving home after my residency in California. I miss you so much. Thank you for all your love and support from a far and for your not infrequent visits. I'm so happy I could see you last weekend, and I look forward to celebrating Lily's 2nd birthday and seeing the new house in a few weeks!

Love,
Auntie Nicole
