Picture Catch Up

Lily was caught off guard in this picture up at the cabin. She couldn't prepare her stellar picture perfect smile with a mouthful of cereal! The update on Lily's eating is that she loves just about everything we throw at her (except peas and applesauce). The big news is that she is getting much better at the sippy cup. Today, she took down 10 ounces before her afternoon nap! I was amazed. She held the cup herself the whole time and I just assisted holding the bottom up. I'm starting to feel better about her eating/drinking while I'm gone. This is huge because I'll have a little more freedom! The other big eating news is that Lily can feed herself Cheerios and Sweet Potato Puffs (as of last weekend). It's so weird to see her grab them from my hand and stuff them in her mouth!

This picture is also up at the cabin and I added it because it sums up one of Lily's favorite things to do...stand. Maybe it's because she likes to play in her Exersaucer or just because she's getting older, but she loves it! She isn't quite ready to stand alone so we have to have our hands ready to catch her. Sometimes it's hard to get her to bend to sit down because she wants to stand. If she's standing anywhere near the coffee table, she automatically grabs for magazines. I think she would be happy for hours ripping apart magazines. This is a glimpse of life when she becomes more mobile...major baby proofing! Lily also likes to run...in the air. If you pick her up with her feet hanging down, she legs start going 100 miles an hour. It's hilarious! It looks like she just going to take off as soon as her feet hit the ground. Maybe she'll jump right to walking and skip crawling.

When Auntie Nicole was here we took a trip to the mall to get Lily's 6 month pictures taken. Of course we needed to take a coffee break when we were there.

Lily loved looking at all of Grandma Williams' art at her exhibit at the Bell Museum!

The other new thing is that Lily has discovered she can sleep on her side. It freaked me out when I peeked in on her Monday during a nap and saw her on her side. She continued to do it all week. I rolled her over on to her back once and she woke up so that's not the answer. She must be like her mom and is more comfortable sleeping on her side. She had a hard time adjusting, causing some very short naps times this week, but she seems to be better now. I'm just glad right now that she hasn't rolled all the way onto her stomach. I think that might put me over the top for worrying. I just keep trying to tell myself that she'll be fine and she's strong enough to roll back over if her face is getting smashed against the crib bumper. That's a whole other thing...bumper or no bumper. I'm leaving it in there for now since it seems like she'd get her hands stuck through the crib bars or bang her head if I take it out. We'll see how it goes and for now, I just pray that she'll be safe each time I lay her in her crib.
