New Friends, New Ride

Lily and I visited my friend Verity and her twin boys Carrick and Caedmon. We had a blast! It was great to see Lily interact with kids close to her age. When they saw each other at first, there was a lot of giggling going on! We've decided that we will have to make these get togethers a more regular thing, so hopefully we can do it weekly. It will be great for Lily to play with the boys and for me to chat with my friend!

I decided to give carrot wagon wheels a try for a new finger food. Lily likes them, but they sure are messy!

We've been stuffing Lily into her infant car seat for too long! We finally got this fancy convertible carseat recently. It's like she has a Lazyboy lounge chair in the back seat! It is so much better and I think it actually feel more stable than the infant ones with the base. Now there is much less fussy when I strap her in. Above she is trying her seat out to make sure the shoulder straps are at the right level. Can you tell she's excited???!!!

Lily LOVES playing the piano! Here she is playing to piano at my parent's house. Since she is into ducks these days, my mom named the piece she was composing "Lily's Concerto of Duck in the Key of Quack":) It was music to my ears!

In my last post I said that Lily had learned to sleep on her side. Well, she officially flipped to her belly. It freaked me out so much the first time I checked on her and she was rolled all the way over that I rolled her to her back and she woke up and couldn't fall back asleep. NOT A GOOD IDEA. So, with the help of Dave, I've accepted that she is a stomach sleeper and since she can push herself all the way up with her arms she is safe. I still worry though...but I think I always will. The big thing is that she is sleeping much better now. When she first transitioned to her side, her naps were getting as short as 45 minutes. Now that she has flipped to her stomach, she sleeps an hour and 15-30 minutes in the morning and sometimes 2 hours in the afternoon. That's a huge improvement. I think everyone is happier now:)

The last thing of note is that Lily has begun to say "Mom" and "Mama". I'm not convinced she knows what she's saying, but it is unbelievable to hear her say a real word! She has also added "Ga" to her sounds, to go along with "Th" and various shrieks and giggles.
