Toes, Toes, Toes

Toes are so fun to play with!

Here is the first attempt at Cheerios for Lily. She was not a big fan...at first. I tried them a few days later and split the in half. It seems that a full sized Cheerios induces choking and interesting faces, whereas a half of a Cheerios is yummy!! She just gummed them and kept opening her mouth for more. Lily has been doing very well with all of the new foods. She now eats peas, carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, rice and oatmeal cereal. However, does anybody know the difference between Stage1 Gerber peas and Stage2 (besides the amount)? She loved Stage1 peas for a week and when I just gave Stage2 peas to her recently, she doesn't like them as much. I even thinned them out with breast milk. Hummm... I guess I'll do an experiment and try Stage1 peas again.

She was getting a little better with the sippy cup, but unfortunately not enough progress was made. We had to move our trip to Cancun to April. I was not feeling confortable going knowing that it might not go very smoothly. I had no doubt she would eat some, but I don't want it to be a negative experience for anyone. Plus, I've been nauseated for days thinking about leaving her. Add the problems of drinking on top and it's just not worth it. I'm not sure I would even enjoy it so what's the point of going! As soon as we decided to move the trip, I was instantly relieved! Now we have 2 and 1/2 months to get the sippy cup down and maybe try a few overnights away first before leaving the country. I know it's still going to be very difficult to leave her, but it will be easier if I know she'll be happy and eating well when we're gone.

The top picture shows Lily grabbing her toes which she LOVES to do! In fact, it can make changing her diaper a little more challenging. That, and the fact that she rolls all over the place now. She also loves sticking her tongue out and making the associated spitting noise. In fact, this morning when I went in to get her from her nap she loved up at me blankly and made that noise. I can't help but laugh! Hopefully she develops more pleasing noises soon, but for now she if just having fun experimently with her voice.

Lily has also discovered that Mom hiding behind a blanket and then popping out and saying "Boo!" is the most hilarious thing ever! I think she would laugh for hours if I kept doing it! That or kissing her hands or tickling her gets quite a few giggles. One of the things that makes me giggle is when Lily gets so excited that she runs in mid-air. This happens pretty much every morning as I lift her out of her crib. What can I say...she is a morning person! I think she's going to hit the ground running as soon as she's strong enough to stand up!

One interesting thing is that Lily's personality is starting to become apparent. Recently, with all of the holiday get togethers, Lily has been in a lot of social situations. She just sits so quietly, looking around and taking it in. She's not necessarily shy since she will let anyone hold her. She's just taking it all in. Someone asked me if she's always this quiet...no way! It's like day and night. When shes at home with Dave and I, she is a chatterbox and a giggling, smiling girl! Maybe she's like her mom in that respect. I usually am quieter in big groups myself!

I have a few more pictures to come...Lily saying goodbye to our Christmas tree and Lily playing in our first big snow!

So sorry that you had to move your trip... but I am SO glad that your anxiety about leaving has improved! I'm sure Lily will be a pro with the sippy cup by April!
