After being inspired at Dexter and Jaxon's birthday party, I used Lily's birthday money to purchase some art supplies. Here she is trying out her paints and brushes for the first time. Thank goodness for washable paint! She loved it and painted for over 45 minutes! We'll have to have more art breaks during the day:)
Mr. Potato Head has been one of her favorite toys lately. Thanks Uncle Ryan! She especially likes to make creatures with 4-6 eyes and at least 4 arms. Sometimes, they turn out pretty normal looking too:)
Lily got a Dora sprinkler for her birthday from Dex and Jax so here she is trying it out for the first time. She was pretty cautious, but still had a ton of fun! I wish I had been on the other side of the sprinkler taking this picture because I'm sure I would have caught a huge smile on her face!
Since she couldn't be convinced to run into the sprinkler herself, Dave ran with her and she loved it!I haven't really given a true Lily update recently so here's a tidbit. Lily seems to be settling into our new house...finally. If I was ever out of sight, she would yell for me, but now we are both getting used to the room and she can play by herself in the playroom while I'm in the kitchen, for example. Lily's language has taken off like crazy! She is at the point now (and has been for a little while) where she will at least try to say any word you tell her. She is up to 2-3 word sentences as well. It's so neat that she can tell us what she is thinking now! Of course, that means we have to be even more careful what we say:) When we read books now, she likes to say the last word of the phrase. Some of the books she has memorized, so I just let her fill in the blanks. With new books, she repeats them after I say it. She also likes to do with this with songs too!
Lily is really starting to turn into a little girl. I'm trying not to push her, but it's good timing with the new baby coming. I'm still not ready to move her into a big girl bed though before the baby comes. I think we've had so many changes, that would be one too many. Plus, she just now is starting to sleep better in our new house. I have noticed that Lily is getting a little more cuddly (which I love!). I'm not sure if it's a reaction to the new baby coming, or just because. I'm still not convinced she really understands that we will have a new little sister for her soon. We're just hoping that the adjustment goes smoothly!
One more fun thing...we've been watching the Olympics lately and Lily loves watching gymnastics. She keeps yelling out "Girl upside down!".
