18+1 Months Old!

This post is well overdue. I meant to post an 18 month entry a month ago and now Lily's is already 19 months old! She has changed so much in the past couple of months, it blows me away. I've been trying to write down when she does new things, or learns a new word and my little calender is full! She has had a language explosion. It's like everything is starting to click all at once. Now, she can say A, B , D, E, H, I, M, N, O, P, 2, 8, and 9. She tries to say the other letters and numbers, but they don't always sounds like they are supposed to:) She loves the alphabet song and can points to the objects as she counts them. For names, she has added "Ry" for uncle Ryan and "Ol" for Auntie Nicole. She also can say her friend Hailey's name, but it sounds like "Hayee". She has sort of attempted to say Lily a few times, but the "L" is difficult. She started pointing to herself though when she names who is in the room. She knows more of the Sesame Street gang and can say Elmo, Cookie, Oscar, Abby, Ernie, and Bert (some are clearer than others). Lily loves Curious George and attempts his name as well, although it sounds like "Dorge". Recently she also said oval, apple, hippo, turtle, milk, blanket, hat, mitten, button, and purple! A couple of times, it Lily has been able to put two words together and said "Hi, Dad" or "Ni-Ni Dad". Then of course there was the video below of her saying "I made it", but I'm pretty she didn't know what she was saying:)

Of course the word that we hear the most of lately is "No". I knew it would come eventually, but we been trying to avoid using the word so she wouldn't use it so much. It was funny, because one morning she got up and everything was "no". It was like a switch flipped and she discovered a powerful new word. We're trying to get her to say "yes" (which she can say), but I'm not convinced she understands how to use it properly. For now, we're trying to avoid asking yes or no questions although even so, the answer is sometimes "No". At least she says it nicely:) She also uses "oh no" and "uh oh" more. If I hear "uh oh" I know I should go see what fell, broke, or is out of place. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but the point is she really is saying more and more new words all of the time.

Lily continues to love books, which is wonderful! We go to the local library when we can so she can have new books without buying them. She has learned how to stack blocks and stacks a tower 4 blocks high! Before she was only interested in knocking them down (although she still thoroughly enjoys that as well). Lily likes to "rock" all of her dolls and stuffed animals and sometimes feeds them fake food or bottles. Lily loves to dance and her moves have evolved since the Christmas videos. She now tries to jump around and it looks like she's limping sort of. I think it will be awhile before she "gets some air". She also has started walking around on her tip-toes as she dances or if she's excited.

Lily is can be very affectionate at times. In fact, she walked up to another little girl at Como Conservatory yesterday and (air-) kissed her! How cute:) Needless to say, she's not overly shy.

Well, that's all I can think of right now and Lily just woke up from her nap so I'd better wrap it up. She is a very fun little girl and I can't wait to hear what she'll say next!

Here is a sweater I finished for Lily a little while ago. It's a little big so maybe she'll be able to wear it in the fall too. It's my favorite sweater that I've made for her so far!

Here's a front view that I had to snap as she was running toward me!

I can't believe how much Lily can do! You truly have a beautiful toddler (wait, we're too young for that, aren't we?) ;)
