Dave had been talking about taking a trip to Disney World with his parents for a while and we decided there is no time like the present. His mom has always wanted to go and now that Lily is old enough, it was time to make it happen for her. Nana was feeling better due to a recent switch in chemo treatment so we packed up for the Magic Kingdom. We decided to leave Audrey behind for a fun-filled time at Grandma and Grandpa's house. She wouldn't have gotten much out of the trip and it would have been hard to travel with her. GOOD DECISION! She probably had more fun staying behind. Anyway, instead of pasting each photo individually, I decided to try a Picasa slide show. (That is the reason I changed the layout of the blog so I could fit a bigger slideshow).
The trip was unbelievable! There was something that made it even better though. Many weeks before the trip, Dave composed a letter to "Disney World" telling the story of Nana's illness and a little girl who was unbelievably into everything Disney. I was very sceptical that anyone would even read it. Boy, was I wrong. The Saturday before we left, Dave got a call from someone at Disney World asking if Nana was still coming. They said we would get a phone call when we arrived to see what they could do to make our trip more special. As we were boarding the ferry to Magic Kingdom the first day, Dave's phone rang with instructions to meet Roy (Operations Manager) by City Hall. Well, we had no idea what was in store for us! He set up a private meeting with the three princesses Cinderella, Belle, and Sleeping Beauty. We were so shocked! Normally you would wait for 45+ minutes to see them and we got shuttled right to the front and Lily had all three to herself. It was very emotional to watch her face light up as she walked in that room. We all got tears in our eyes for many reasons...seeing a little girl's dream come true, Chris being able to be apart of that moment, and the thankfulness we felt for "Disney World" to listen to Dave's letter.
After dancing with the princesses, we thought that was all. Boy, were we wrong! Roy took us VIP to meet three fairies in Pixie Hollow (Tinkerbell, Rosetta, and Silvermist), Mickey and Minnie, Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, and Ariel. That alone saved us hours waiting in lines. Then e set up VIP seats for the afternoon parade and gave us 20 Fast Passes for rides (basically we could go to the head of the line for most rides whenever we wanted to). I can't describe the thankfulness we felt for what Roy did for us. We probably saw/did 2-3 times more because of this special treatment. Plus, it meant no long lines to stand in, which was great for Chris's energy level and for Lily's patience. All in all it was an amazing trip and we are so glad everything workd out. Now, I just have to explain to Lily why we can't go to Disney World again tomorrow...
