Audrey went through an obsession with wearing the stethoscope from our play doctor's kit. It would be funny if she does become a doctor someday and we'll have this picture to look back on.
Here Lily is wearing the same outfit at 13 months:)
I started looking back back at my calendar that I write notes about the girls in. Audrey certainly has grown up into a little girl since my last Audrey update in the beginning of November. I officially weaned her just after that post. She decided she wanted nothing to do with milk after that. I tried it all...whole milk, chocolate milk, strawberry milk, warm milk, skim milk. I finally gave up for a little while and resigned to using yogurt and cheese for calcium sources. Then I tried one more combination...slightly warmed chocolate skim milk. Ta-da! Now, she's a milk drinker! I'll have to wean her towards just cold skim, but for now I'll just indulge her.
I can't get over how fast Audrey is. She loves to run. And I mean RUN. In fact, there a lot of times we burn energy just chasing each other around the house. She also tries to do somersaults, "jumps", tip-toes, and her dancing is hysterical. Audrey is much more of a climber than Lily ever was so we have to watch her carefully. She thinks she can do much more than her little legs are ready for!
Audrey's fine-motor skills have also taken off. She can work a zipper well and tries to dress and undress the baby dolls. The thing that amazes me the most is that she holds a crayon with the correct writing grip. I barely remember showing her that and she caught on quickly! She LOVES to scribble which is lots of fun. Now we can add some of her artwork to our playroom walls.
Audrey continues to be a rockstar eater. She will basically try anything which is shocking to us after having a very picker eater. While her tastes still change and she goes through phases of liking or disliking certain foods, she still has a pretty balanced palate.
The biggest concern with Audrey continues to be her lack of speech. She started saying "Hi" clearly and correctly which is good. She says "Mama" sometimes (usually when she wants something or got hurt). She still says "Ah-ha" for yes and shakes her head "no". The good thing is that she is very talkative and babbles A LOT. In fact, I find myself asking "did she just say____?" all the time. Maybe she really is saying those things and needs to work on pronounciation or maybe I'm just pulling at straws. The reason we haven't had Audrey tested is that her develpment is otherwise completely normal. She seems to hear fine and understands everything. She can identify pictures in books (ie. animals, people, things) no problem. She'll follow commands (ie. go get your puppy) and is making connections. For example, if she sees a penguin in a book, she go run and get a stuffed pengiuin toy without me asking. She uses the correct actions too. For example, she will blow on her food when hot, and puts her finger to her mouth and blows "shhh" when we are trying to be quiet while Lily sleeps. She still doesn't have the deep-rooted interest in letters and numbers that Lily did, but I think that's a difference in personality between the two. She continues to learn and loves to read books which is very exciting. Her favorites right now are "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and "Panda Bear, Panda Bear". She loves any book with animals. I think every kid must go through a farm animal/Old McDonald phase because I know Lily did at this age too. So far, she's only been trying to make the sounds for them, but her pig noise takes the cake.
Lastly, I'll give her update from her 15 month doctor's appointment. Height:32 1/2 inches (>95th percentile), Weight: 22 lbs 8.0 oz (45-50th percentile), Head: 45.8cm (45-50th percentile). She continues to be tall and skinny. I guess all the incredible amounts of food she eats goes right to her height! Lastly, Audrey is still a pretty good sleeper overall. She definitely doesn't require as much sleep as Lily did (or does). Lily often out-sleeps her in total hours of sleep per day. Audrey went through a tough sleep spell right after Christmas. She had a cold, but the sleep troubles continued long after that. Short naps and waking 4-6 times a night took its toll on both of us for a few weeks. Finally, she seems to have started sleeping better a week or so ago (just in time for Lily to go through another dreaming phase and fear of the dark...of course). This is why I am now totally addicted to my morning cup of coffee! Okay, that's that. I'm sure I forgot things but for now I am caught up with Audrey! Coming soon...zoo visits...Lily update...and DISNEY WORLD!
