Audrey is ONE!

Audrey is officially a toddler!

Trying on Grandma's cowboy hat. She was so funny walking around with it on her head. She didn't even try to take it off.

I tried to take some nicer pictures of Audrey and it was a complete disaster. She thought it was hilarious to wiggle, run, and flop around. Most of the picture were of the back of her head!

This is probably the best one of our little ballerina.

Caught ya!

Audrey has been getting her molars in so I treated her to a new vibrating grape teether. When I gave it to her, she held it in her mouth for about 30 minutes straight. Above, she still loves pushing the bus around and riding it too.

Picking a book to read.

Before her preference became walking, Audrey would crawl around with toys in her mouth (and hands). Funny girl!

Audrey has changed a huge amount in the last month (okay month and a half). The biggest change is she is a very good walker now. She switched from crawling to walking just days after she turned 11 months old. Since then, she has improved so much that she is actually running. She can also stand up on her own without pulling up on something and can stand up from sitting on the floor.

Audrey is very good at blowing kisses now. She even adds a little "Mwah!" sound with the hand motion. She also gives hugs when asked to, especially to her puppy. Audrey also started some pretend play by pretending to talk on the phone. It's pretty adorable watching her pace the playroom making phone conversation noises into a play phone. She also started putting toys into containers (ie. put the shapes back into the bucket). Hopefully this is the beginning of her helping with cleanup:)

My favorite thing that Audrey has started to do is bring us books to read to her. I LOVE it. She finds a book and holds it out in front of her practically running towards us while making very excited noises. Then if we are on the floor, she'll actually crawls into our laps with the book. Some of her favorite books right now are "Goodnight Moon", "Five Wishing Stars", and three books that have pictures with one word descriptions on the bottom ("Words", "Toys", and "Animals"). She clearly LOVES dogs. Every time we look at a book and a picture of a dog comes up, she gets really excited. Maybe this goes a long with her love for her new stuffed animal Puppy.

Audrey still is not saying specific words, which I'm trying not to freak out about. She continues to add new sounds like "Ba", "Ma ma", and "Da da". However, it's not clear that she is using them correctly all the time. I do love hearing her say "Mom" and "Ma Ma" though. Even though she doesn't use words, it is getting easier to understand what she wants. She uses certain inflections in her voice to indicate "yes" or "no" and her actions help us to figure out what she wants. For example, if she wants her water, she'll walk over to the fridge and grab the handles while making some whiny grunty noises. Her pediatrician is not worried (nor is Dave) and she said she'll hopefully take off talking within the next few months.

We've made through some major teething during the last month or so. Audrey got all four molars in and her top canines are almost through. She didn't seem that affected by it at all which is crazy. She didn't even drool with the molars. She just got a little cranky sometimes. Over the past several weeks, I've gone from nursing Audrey three times a day to just one at night as of a few days ago. She definitely missed the feeding before her afternoon nap, but in general has adjusted well. The only problem is that I can't get her to drink whole milk. I've tried it warm, cold, plain, and with chocolate. Maybe it will take completely weaning her for her to drink it. Otherwise, we might have to rely on yogurt and cheese. Thank goodness she loves both!

Audrey had a a bad cold (as did Lily) recently and she surprised me in her ability to actually blow her nose! I can't even get Lily to do that very well. She'll even take a kleenex or cloth herself and blow hard into it. I still use the bulb syringe some, but it's nice that she blow her nose on her own!

The last major change is that Audrey is down to one nap. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try it since she was crying a lot before and after both naps and her afternoon nap was shrinking more and more. The first day I decided just to keep her up as long as I could without her getting too cranky or sleepy. I put her down at 1:30 and she slept 2.5 hours waking twice! We have not looked back. She averages about 2 hours for her nap now and sleeps in 30-45 minutes longer in the morning. That's better than the two 1 hr 10 min naps or less. The greatest thing is that we are free to do more during the morning. Instead of trying to squish trips to the grocery store, etc. into the hour after lunch, we can take our time in the morning. She is still a sleep risk in the car once it gets close to lunch time so we try to avoid driving during that time.

Lastly, everything went great at her one year doctor's appointment. She got 4 shots...poor girl! I just hate doing shots with the girls, but at least they recover pretty quickly. Audrey dropped off a bit in height and weight. She is 30 inches tall (75-80th%), 20 lbs 13.5 oz (45th%), and her head circumference is 44.8 cm (45-50th%). I figured her weight had plateaued since she is so mobile, but I was a little surprised her height did too. She's just a little peanut:) That's all for now. I'll try to keep up a little better now!
